Royal Caribbean International has no plans to slow down. With four new ships on the horizon through 2028, the cruise line is expanding its fleet with some of the most ambitious builds yet. From next-gen innovation to record-breaking size, these new vessels are set to redefine what’s possible at sea. Here’s a closer look at what’s coming next.
Star of the Seas (August 2025)
Slated to debut in August 2025, Star of the Seas will be the second ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class, following the highly anticipated Icon of the Seas. Currently under construction at the Meyer Turku Shipyard in Finland, the ship will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and is expected to introduce a mix of returning favorites and new-to-brand features. At 250,800 gross tons and with capacity for 5,610 guests, this floating mega-resort is poised to make waves when it begins sailing from Port Canaveral during its maiden season.
Icon III (2026)
The Icon Class continues to grow in 2026 with the arrival of a third, still-unnamed vessel. Like its predecessors, the ship is being built at Meyer Turku in Finland and will come in at 250,800 gross tons, accommodating up to 5,610 guests. The keel for the ship was laid in October 2024, marking a major step in construction. While Royal Caribbean has yet to reveal full details about its onboard experience or inaugural itineraries, expectations are high following the buzz around the first two Icon Class ships.
Icon IV (2027)
In 2027, Royal Caribbean will welcome its fourth Icon Class ship, also coming in at 250,800 gross tons with space for 5,610 passengers. The ship, still unnamed and currently on order, will again be built at the Meyer Turku Shipyard, reinforcing the strong partnership between the cruise line and the Finnish shipbuilder. Announced as part of a broader agreement in August 2024, this deal includes options for additional vessels, suggesting the Icon Class could grow even further in the years ahead.
Oasis VII (2028)
Not to be outdone, the Oasis Class is set to expand as well. In 2028, Royal Caribbean will debut its seventh ship in the iconic series, which has defined the megaship experience for over a decade. Being built at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in France, this new vessel will be 231,000 gross tons and designed to carry 5,714 guests. Like recent builds, it will be LNG-powered, continuing the cruise line’s shift toward more sustainable fuel technologies. This ship will follow the upcoming Utopia of the Seas and is expected to feature an evolved version of the Oasis Class layout, blending crowd-pleasing venues with fresh new concepts.
Royal Caribbean’s future fleet is shaping up to be bolder and more forward-thinking than ever. With four newbuilds scheduled to arrive between 2025 and 2028, guests can look forward to groundbreaking design, larger-than-life features, and more sustainable cruising across both the Icon and Oasis Classes. Whether you’re mapping out your next vacation or just keeping tabs on what’s next in the cruise world, these ships are guaranteed to set new standards at sea.
